Sweet Home 3D is an excellent solution for all those that daydream about redesigning their home, or even for professionals that need a basic mock-up. The fact that it's based on Java shouldn't put you off either - it works very smoothly with virtually no delays in placing furniture or creating previews. You can take a photo of your finished design, which you can then send on to friends to view who won't need Sweet Home 3D to view it. ![]() Unfortunately, the graphics on Sweet Home 3D are not great - many pieces of furniture look blocky, but its designed to give an idea of what an arrangement will look like rather than a perfect picture. These are the basics and Sweet Home 3D is extremely easy to get to grips with. They've also added a much needed auto recovery function if Sweet Home 3D crashes. This includes a new ability to handle rounded walls, the possibility to store points of view, a new compass and even light and sun management to accurately show how your designs react under different conditions. The latest version adds a new level of realism to Sweet Home 3D. Once you've done this, use the virtual visit tool to get a 3D preview of what it looks like and talk a walk around. To create your rooms, all you need to do is drag and drop elements into the grid view and you'll see them building up 3D in the viewing screen below. Sweet Home 3D is available in English, Portuguese, Bulgarian, Chinese, Czech, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Vietnamese languages.Sweet Home 3D offers more than 50 different pieces of furniture, ranging from beds to lamps and desks tables, but you can import even more from the developer's website. Finally, you can improve your home plan by adding dimensions and texts to it, print it along with the 3D view, create a photorealistic image of the 3D view with customized lights, create a movie from a virtual path in the 3D view and export the plan to SVG format or the 3D view to OBJ format to import them in other 2D or 3D software. All the changes made in the 2D plan are simultaneously reflected in a 3D view, and you can navigate in it either from an aerial view point, or from a virtual visitor view point. Sweet Home 3D helps you to design your interior quickly and easily: draw the rooms of each level of your home upon the image of an existing plan, change the color or the texture of each room, and drag and drop furniture onto the plan from a catalog organized by categories (windows, doors, living room, kitchen), in which you can import 3D models created by yourself or downloaded from various Web sites. However, with a little practice, we are certain users will be able to use this free program to design something impressive. Placing items in the room will take some patience, as it feels rather clunky. While the results of Sweet Home 3D were impressive, we were slightly disappointed with its control. In addition, there is an exciting Virtual Visit option that lets you walk through your home and its rooms. By dragging furniture into the grid and positioning it as you envision your redesigned room, a clear picture appears below, providing an impression of space that two-dimensional sketches cannot. At the bottom of the screen is a small box that provides the 3D view. Below the file tree is a space for each item in the room and its approximate size. The area is a grid with measurements corresponding to room size. The left side of the screen contains a file tree for every room in the house, and clicking on each room presents a list of all appropriate furniture you can drag into the adjacent box. The program's interface is very easy to use. With a fairly simple premise and impressive results, this slightly flawed program is certainly something to get the imagination going. Sweet Home 3D offers users a chance to see a remodeled room or a brand new home before a single nail has been driven. ![]()
